The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has congratulated 12 Nigerian coaches who successfully completed the FIVB Level I Coaching Certification Course in Accra, Ghana.
The intensive coaching programme, held from August 3 to 8, 2026, saw the coaches demonstrate commitment, discipline and professionalism as they underwent training in modern volleyball coaching methodologies and practical techniques.
The successful participants comprised seven female and five male coaches, further highlighting the NVBF’s commitment to strengthening technical capacity while promoting greater female participation in coaching and leadership within the sport.
The 12 newly certified coaches are Dorothy Egbum, who served as team leader; Francisca Ikhiede; Lydia Ayisa Yakubu; Anthony Damilola Taiwo; Monday Dada; Friday Peter; Morris Sefeiya Dikyai; Hajara Audu; Bose Melaiye; Bukky Oluwatosin; Sewuese Iorkua; and George Samson Malaika.
The Federation said the knowledge and skills acquired from the FIVB Level I course are expected to be transferred to clubs, schools, grassroots programmes and national teams, contributing to the long-term development of volleyball in Nigeria.
The NVBF also commended the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the course organisers for providing the platform for the professional development of Nigerian coaches.
The Federation urged the coaches to view their certification not only as a personal achievement but also as a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to talent development, technical excellence and the sustainable growth of volleyball in Nigeria.
The NVBF described their achievement as another important step towards building a stronger pool of professionally trained coaches capable of taking Nigerian volleyball to greater heights.
