WHO WE ARE
Democracy Radio 104.9FM Abuja is established by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) to bridge the Information gap between the electorates and their elected representatives. It was commissioned on Thursday, 24″ May, 2023 by the Leadership of the 9″ National Assembly. After a 3-month test transmission and following the endorsement of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Democracy Radio 104.9FM commenced scheduled programming in September, 2023. As a modern Radio Station, we broadcast on terrestrial and simultaneously online at www.democracyradio.ng
Taking into cognizance, the digitalization era and in line with the 21 Century technological wave, our audio visual digital studio broadcasts our FM Radio programming over the internet to ensure our programming reaches a broader geographical and demographic audience.
In this way, audiences all over the world can stream our radio programming live from our website and also have access to archived programmes at the click of a button. Our audio-visual studio is also equipped with high performance computers, audio systems and a multi camera set-up that allows us produce informative and engaging content specifically for our podcast and YouTube Channels which will help entrench civic political culture amongst the youth. While our target audience are persons of voting age, we also seek to capture the younger generation in our programming.
Democracy Radio 104.9FM Abuja exists to inform, connect, and inspire citizens by giving democratic ideas a stronger voice, bridging the gap between the people and their representatives, and using modern media to deepen civic participation across generations.
