The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC), Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations indicate that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
Military authorities have since launched efforts to track and arrest him to face a comprehensive investigation and appropriate disciplinary action in line with military regulations.
The Army reiterates its zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, indiscipline, or any act capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity, reputation, or national security.
It warns that any personnel found aiding terrorists, criminal groups, or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful intelligence to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable would be held accountable in accordance with the law.
