The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has unveiled a new digital system for drug integrity tests and visa clearance.
This marks a major step in the agency’s drive to modernize its operations and improve public service delivery.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday at the launch, NDLEA Secretary, Shadrach Haruna described the initiative as a “paradigm shift where enforcement meets efficiency and technology.”
He said the new system eliminates delays, human interference, and document falsification that often plagued the manual process.
With the new e-administration platform, applicants can now apply for drug integrity tests or visa clearance from anywhere, choose preferred test centers, and receive verified digital certificates within three to seven days.
According to the NDLEA, the system provides a secure, transparent, and standardized process that integrates background checks and enables seamless collaboration with embassies and partner agencies. It also allows private medical centers to register as accredited test partners.
Haruna emphasized that the drug integrity test is preventive, not punitive, designed to help individuals get intervention and counseling before addiction sets in.
The platform is open to students, job seekers, organizations, and even prospective couples, offering an easy and stigma-free way to confirm drug-free status.
He noted that the digitalization project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and reflects NDLEA’s commitment to using technology to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-drug war.
“This is the future of our war against drug abuse, proactive, compassionate, and data-driven. With technology on our side, we are stronger and more resolved than ever before,” Haruna said.
The agency urged Nigerians and partner institutions to adopt the new system, describing its success as a shared national responsibility.
