The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has dismissed social media reports suggesting that the ongoing upgrade of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) software would delay the payment of October salaries.
In a statement on Wednesday, the OAGF clarified that the upgrade is part of a long-term effort to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the government’s payroll system, not a new development as speculated.
According to the Office, IPPIS previously operated on three payroll platforms. In 2024, one of them was successfully migrated to the SoftSuite application, leaving EBS and SoftSuite as the two active systems.
Due to EBS’s suboptimal performance, the Federal Government decided to consolidate all payroll activities under SoftSuite.
“The integration of all payroll processes into a single platform has been carefully managed,” the statement said. “While minor issues may arise during the transition, all observed errors and omissions are being addressed promptly.
The management does not anticipate any significant disruptions.”
The OAGF assured all federal workers and stakeholders that October salaries remain on schedule, urging Treasury and IPPIS staff to disregard misleading online reports that did not originate from the Office.
“For accurate and verified information, the public is advised to rely solely on official communications from the OAGF,” the statement added.
