The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed a total of ₦55.9 billion as monthly pensions, outstanding arrears to eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme (DBS) for December 2025.
According to PTAD, the payment includes ₦13.41 billion for monthly pensions across all pension departments, including diaspora pensioners, while ₦42.50 billion was paid as pension arrears.
The arrears covered outstanding obligations arising from the ₦32,000 pension increment, the 10.66 per cent and 12.95 per cent pension increases, as well as accrued pension arrears, gratuities, and death benefits owed to beneficiaries.
Providing an update on the disbursement, PTAD Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, said the payments reflect the Federal Government’s renewed focus on the welfare of retirees.
“The payments reflect President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of senior citizens, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Odunaiya stated.
Breakdown of Pension Arrears Paid
Police Pension Department (PPD): ₦5.88 million paid to 5 pensioners
Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD): ₦604.33 million paid to 8,606 pensioners
Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD): ₦16.36 billion paid to 71,643 pensioners.
Others are Defunct and Transferred Agencies Department (DTAD): ₦15.07 billion paid to 24,995 pensioners
Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD): ₦7.81 billion paid to 25,718 pensioners
PTAD noted that arrears resulting from the ₦32,000 pension increment have now been fully settled across all departments, except for one month outstanding each for pensioners under the Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD) and the Tertiary Education and Health Department (TEHD).
Odunaiya assured affected pensioners that the Directorate remains committed to clearing the remaining arrears promptly.
“The Directorate will clear the outstanding one-month arrears for PaPD and TEHD pensioners, while continuing initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and overall well-being of DBS pensioners,” she said.
