The Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Prof Abubakar Sulaiman, on Tuesday led a delegation of the Management and Personal Aides to the residence of the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Attahiru Jega, on a condolence visit.
This follows the death of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, wife of the former INEC boss who died last Sunday, 5th April, 2026.
A statement signed by Mohammad Abdulkadri, Media Adviser to the DG NILDS, states that it was a solemn moment as Prof Sulaiman and the NILDS team were received by the chief mourner, Prof Jega, a consultant for the NILDS Executive Education Programme (CAEEP).
Prof Sulaiman joined other who-is-who, including the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Alhaji Yayale Ahmed who converged on Jega’s residence to assist him cushion the emotional and psychological stress occasioned by the sad loss.
At the point of departure after hours of staying with the bereaved, the Director, Legal Services, Prof Shuaib Danwaka led the NILDS family in a special prayer for Allah’s mercies for the Late Hajiya Hadiza and fortitude to bear the great loss.
