Nigeria Sweep Titles at IHF Zone 3 Championship

Nigeria’s youth handball teams stamped their authority on the regional stage with a remarkable double victory at the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase, held in Lomé, Togo at the weekend.

The Under-18 side delivered a dominant performance in the final, overpowering Ivory Coast 32–19 to secure the title.

Displaying composure, structure, and attacking precision, the Nigerian youngsters controlled the game throughout to underline their rising status in African youth handball.

Not to be outdone, the Under-20 team produced an equally commanding display, defeating Benin Republic 39–29 in the final.

Their sharp offensive play and disciplined approach ensured a convincing win, completing a clean sweep for Nigeria at the tournament.

The twin victories see both teams crowned champions of the Zone 3 competition and earn them qualification for the continental phase, where they will face top teams from across Africa.

This outstanding achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing focus on grassroots development, in line with the vision of the National Sports Commission, and signals a bright future for handball in the country
