President Bola Tinubu has extended a formal invitation to Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, for a state visit to Nigeria following a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.

The development was disclosed on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Sunday Dare, while briefing journalists after the engagement.

According to Dare, both leaders discussed opportunities for strategic cooperation between Nigeria and Guinea, particularly in the areas of minerals, metals, and economic development.

He said President Doumbouya warmly received the invitation and is expected to visit Abuja in the near future.

“The President had a fruitful meeting. Very soon, on the invitation of President Tinubu, he is likely to visit Nigeria,” Dare stated.

The presidential aide noted that the discussions opened new possibilities for stronger bilateral cooperation between both countries, especially in Guinea’s mining sector.

“Guinea has a lot of potential in metals, minerals, and related sectors. The opening for partnership between Nigeria and Guinea has been established, and the possibilities are significant,” he added.

Guinea is regarded as one of Africa’s most resource-rich countries, with the world’s largest reserves of bauxite, the primary raw material used in aluminium production. The country also possesses substantial deposits of iron ore, gold, and diamonds.

Doumbouya recently secured victory in Guinea’s presidential election with 86.2 per cent of the vote as the country continues its transition toward civilian democratic governance.

Parliamentary elections are also expected to hold in Guinea within the coming weeks.
