The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has announced a 16-man squad for the YellowGreens’ upcoming tour of Namibia, where they will compete in a T20 and 50-over Tri-Series against hosts Namibia and Hong Kong China.
The team, led by captain Sulaimon Runsewe, departed Nigeria today as preparations intensify for a crucial international assignment aimed at sharpening the squad ahead of future global competitions.
The selected roster blends experienced campaigners with emerging talents, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to building a competitive side capable of excelling in both white-ball formats. The tour will also provide the technical crew with an opportunity to assess player combinations and monitor individual development against quality opposition.
Among the notable inclusions are Chima Akachukwu and Miracle Akhigbe, who return to the national team after time away from the setup. Their comeback is expected to add valuable depth and experience as Nigeria targets strong performances in the series.
The team will initially be guided by coaches Leke Oyede and Tamuno John, while newly appointed Head Coach and High Performance Manager Stephen Magongo is set to join the delegation later in Namibia. His arrival underscores the Federation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the national team structure and enhance player development.
Supporting the coaching staff are team analyst Jamal Okechukwu, strength and conditioning coach Seye Olympio, and physiotherapist Timothy Adesomowo, forming a comprehensive technical unit focused on maximizing player performance throughout the tour.
The Namibia Tri-Series represents another important milestone in the YellowGreens’ growth, offering valuable international exposure and the chance to fine-tune strategies against formidable opponents. Nigeria will face both Namibia and Hong Kong China in T20 and 50-over fixtures, with the matches expected to test the team’s adaptability, discipline, and resilience.
As the squad embarks on the tour, the Nigeria Cricket Federation has called on fans across the country to rally behind the YellowGreens as they proudly represent the nation on the international stage.
