The death toll from a deadly fire at a popular live music pub in Bangkok has risen to 32, after two more victims died from their injuries.

The Erawan Emergency Medical Centre on Wednesday said 30 people remain hospitalized, including 15 receiving intensive care. Another 44 victims have been discharged.

The fire broke out late Sunday night at Rong Beer Na Ladprao, becoming Thailand’s deadliest blaze in 17 years. Firefighters took about 30 minutes to bring the flames under control.

Most victims died from smoke inhalation, while others suffered fatal burn injuries, according to Thailand’s Institute of Forensic Medicine.

Police said many of those found dead were trapped in windowless bathrooms, where they may have sought refuge as the fire spread.

Authorities are investigating possible negligence, including whether emergency exits were blocked. Officials said an electrical fault involving a ceiling-mounted air conditioner may have started the fire, while experts are examining whether flammable materials around the stage helped fuel the blaze.

Survivors and relatives of victims have visited police stations to provide statements, collect belongings and seek compensation.

One survivor, Natthaphong Lakhorn, said panic broke out after the fire started and the power went off. He said he lost a relative in the incident and plans to seek compensation for his injuries.

A lawyer representing the pub owners said survivors and families of victims would initially receive 10,000 baht in support.
