Nigeria has congratulate Andy Burnham on his inauguration as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnership between both countries.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, praises the United Kingdom for its peaceful democratic transition and commended its institutions for upholding constitutional democracy.
The minister expressed confidence that Prime Minister Burnham’s administration would advance economic renewal, deepen decentralisation and effectively tackle the cost-of-living challenges facing the UK.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu notes that Nigeria and the United Kingdom share enduring ties in trade, investment, security, education and cultural exchange, stressing that both Commonwealth nations remain committed to expanding cooperation in climate action, sustainable development, peace and security, and multilateral reforms.
She added that Nigeria looks forward to working closely with the new British government to deepen their strategic partnership and unlock new opportunities that will deliver mutual benefits for both countries.
