Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has welcomed the rescue of 308 abducted persons in separate security operations in Kwara and Niger states, describing the development as a major boost in the fight against insecurity.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media, Musa Krishi, the Speaker commends the Armed Forces and other security agencies for the successful operations.
He also praised President Bola Tinubu for sustaining efforts to safeguard lives and property across the country.
According to Abbas, 163 victims were rescued from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while another 145 abductees regained their freedom during an operation around the Kainji Lake National Park forest in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State.
The Speaker describes the rescues as a huge relief to the victims, their families and the nation, but stressed the need for stronger preventive measures to curb further abductions and other criminal activities.
He expresses confidence in the ability of Nigeria’s security agencies to tackle insecurity and reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Representatives to supporting legislative reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s security architecture.
