The reconciliation committee of the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement led by minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, has assured members in Rivers State that no one will be victimised or discriminated against over past political disagreements.
Chairman of the committee, Magnus Abe, gave the assurance after meeting with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other stakeholders at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Abe said the committee had made significant progress in its efforts to reunite members of the political family and establish a framework for working together.
He said all members would be treated equally and respectfully, regardless of their past political differences.
Abe expressed optimism that the reconciliation would bring peace, unity, progress and prosperity to Rivers State.
The APC South-South Publicity Secretary, Samuel Nwanosike, commended Governor Fubara for welcoming the committee, describing the meeting as a major step towards restoring unity.
A stakeholder and Fubara ally, Ambrose Nwuzi, also said members had agreed to embrace peace, adding that the reconciliation process was largely complete, with the final step being Wike’s formal endorsement.
The meeting was the second between Governor Fubara and members of the committee in about two weeks as efforts continue to achieve lasting political reconciliation in Rivers State.
