The Jigawa State Government has declared Thursday, August 27, 2026, a work-free day to mark the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation.
The Head of the Civil Service, Muhammad K. Dagaceri, announced the decision in a statement, saying the holiday would allow residents and public servants to participate in anniversary activities.
The government said residents should use the occasion to reflect on Jigawa’s development over the past 35 years and pray for continued peace, unity and progress.
It also urged residents to join special prayers at Jum’ah mosques across the state as part of the anniversary activities.
The government congratulated the people of Jigawa and encouraged them to appreciate the peace and stability recorded since the state was created.
Mr Dagaceri said the work-free day would enable residents to take part fully in the celebrations and communal prayers without official duties.
He also called on citizens to reflect on the state’s achievements and support efforts to build a more united and prosperous Jigawa.
The government urged residents to mark the anniversary peacefully and use the occasion to pray for the continued development of Jigawa and Nigeria.
