The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former governors Liyel Imoke and Abdulfatah Ahmed to head key committees for its presidential primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the party, Liyel Imoke will serve as Chairman of the Presidential Screening Committee, while Abdulfatah Ahmed will lead the Presidential Election Committee.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

The party said the appointments are aimed at ensuring transparency, credibility, and fairness in the selection of its presidential candidate.

The Presidential Screening Committee will vet aspirants, while the Election Committee will oversee the conduct of the primaries.

ADC also constituted a Presidential Appeals Committee to handle complaints arising from the process.

For governorship primaries, the party approved two screening committees and two appeal committees made up of senior political figures, legal practitioners, and retired military officers.

The party said the committees were carefully selected to strengthen internal democracy and build confidence in its electoral process.

“The committees were carefully constituted to ensure transparency, credibility, fairness and internal democracy throughout the conduct of the party’s primaries,” the statement added.

The party’s full primaries schedule and nomination fees were also earlier released as preparations for 2027 intensify.
