The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that Akwa Ibom State will deliver the highest number of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the South-South geopolitical zone in future elections.
Akpabio made the remark on Tuesday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, during a stakeholder consultation meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), held at the Government House. The meeting formed part of discussions around Governor Umo Eno’s re-election bid ahead of 2027.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio praised Governor Eno’s leadership style, describing him as a “peaceful leader and man of God” who has shown inclusiveness and delivered governance projects across the state.
He noted that ongoing development efforts, including the revival of abandoned projects and the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport, have strengthened public confidence in the administration.
Akpabio further stated that Akwa Ibom’s political alignment and development strides under Governor Eno would translate into strong electoral support for President Tinubu, adding that the state remains appreciative of the President’s backing of its political leaders at the national level.
The Senate President maintained that the atmosphere of unity and consultation within the state APC structure signals a strong foundation for electoral success in future polls.
