Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has urged Muslims and other residents to promote peace, unity and tolerance as they celebrate Eid-el-Maulud.
In a goodwill message, the governor called on citizens to reflect on the virtues associated with Prophet Muhammad, including honesty, patience, humility, compassion and selflessness.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed described the celebration as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and peaceful coexistence.
He urged Muslims to strengthen their relationship with Allah and extend compassion and understanding to others, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
For Bauchi State, the governor said its ethnic, cultural and religious diversity should remain a source of strength rather than division.
He called on residents to reject prejudice and work together to preserve peace and promote development across the state.
Amid Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, Governor Mohammed also urged Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for peace, security and prosperity.
Meanwhile, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects in healthcare, education, agriculture and infrastructure before the end of his tenure.
On security, the governor said maintaining law and order remains a priority, adding that security agencies are working to protect lives and property across Bauchi State.
He warned individuals and groups against exploiting ethnic or religious differences to cause violence, stressing that anyone who threatens the state’s peace will face the full weight of the law.
Governor Mohammed thanked residents for their continued support and wished Muslims across Bauchi State and Nigeria a peaceful and blessed Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
