Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has urged the APC governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, to accept the election result and congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election.
Bamidele made the appeal in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday while assessing Saturday’s governorship election, which saw Adeleke defeat Oyebamiji with 511,067 votes against 444,815.
The Senate Leader said the result reflected the choice of Osun voters and urged all candidates to respect the outcome of the poll.
He also called on Oyebamiji to share constructive policy ideas with Adeleke to help improve governance in the state.
Bamidele said Adeleke’s victory comes with the responsibility to unite Osun and govern beyond party lines.
He urged the governor to reach out to his opponents and other political parties, arguing that inclusive governance would help strengthen the state.
The Senate Leader further said the APC should not view the election as an outright loss, pointing to Adeleke’s past membership of the party and his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
He congratulated the Independent National Electoral Commission on the conduct of the election and said the APC and its candidate remained important stakeholders in Osun State.
