The third edition of the CGC Volleyball Premier League First Phase continued to deliver thrilling action in Abuja, with title contenders strengthening their credentials through commanding performances on Day 5.
In the men’s category, Nigeria Correctional Service cruised to a straight-sets 3-0 victory over Ajase Ipo, while Nigeria Customs Service also swept Sunshine Spikers 3-0 to maintain their impressive form. UCEM VC recorded an equally dominant 3-0 win against Life Camp VC.
COAS Spikers overcame an opening-set setback to defeat Defence Spikers 3-1, showing resilience after losing a marathon first set 31-29. Kano Pillars edged Nigeria Police Force 3-1 in one of the day’s most entertaining contests, with the fourth set ending 35-33, while NSCDC completed a routine 3-0 victory over Offa VC.
The women’s competition was equally competitive as Kada Emeralds defeated Olalomi Royal Angels 3-1 after bouncing back from a second-set defeat. NSCDC rallied from losing the opening set to beat CNS Spikers 3-1, while VIP & Partners VC produced another convincing display with a 3-0 win over Anambra Queens.
Fire Service comfortably dispatched Life Camp VC in straight sets, and COAS Spikers wrapped up another dominant outing with a 3-0 victory over Excelsior VC.
The latest results followed an eventful Day 4, where Nigeria Customs Service defeated Kada Emeralds 3-0 in the women’s division, NAF Rockets overcame Fire Service 3-1, and NSCDC blanked Olalomi Royal Angels 3-0. Anambra Queens also outlasted Benue Queens in a five-set thriller, while VIP & Partners VC edged CNS Spikers 3-1.
In the men’s matches on Day 4, Nigeria Customs Service swept Nigeria Correctional Service 3-0, COAS Spikers defeated Nigeria Police Force 3-0, Kano Pillars claimed a 3-1 win over NSCDC, Defence Spikers rallied from two sets down to beat Ajase Ipo 3-2, CNS Spikers overwhelmed UCEM VC 3-0, and Life Camp VC secured a straight-sets victory over Sunshine Spikers.
With teams battling for crucial points as the first phase progresses, the race for playoff positions and early supremacy continues to intensify in Abuja.
