The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth about ₦8.9 billion linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.
Justice Jude Onwugbuzie delivered the ruling after granting an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which argued that the assets were proceeds of unlawful activities uncovered during its investigation.
The assets ordered forfeited include jewellery valued at ₦4.65 billion, 11 exotic vehicles worth ₦4.29 billion, 50,000 US dollars, and ₦30 million in cash.
The EFCC told the court that its investigations established a connection between the assets and alleged illegal activities, urging the court to make the interim forfeiture permanent.
In his ruling, Justice Onwugbuzie upheld the commission’s application and directed that all the listed assets be finally forfeited to the Federal Government, bringing the legal process over the seized properties to a close
