The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Tuesday charged 13 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to lead with uncompromising integrity, warning them against misconduct, abuse of office and corruption.
Speaking at their decoration ceremony in Abuja, Disu said the promotions reflected the officers’ professionalism, resilience and years of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force.
He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through exemplary leadership.
“I expect you to lead with uncompromising integrity, with no tolerance for misconduct, abuse of office or corruption,” the IGP said.
He noted that the new ranks are not merely rewards for past service but a vote of confidence in the officers’ capacity to lead at a higher level.
Disu also urged the newly promoted officers to lead with humanity, saying those under their command would judge them not only by what they demanded but also by how well they protected and supported their welfare.
He encouraged them to mentor younger officers with honesty, patience and professionalism.
The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to improving officers’ welfare, training and career development as part of efforts to build a modern, intelligence-led and technology-driven police service.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for his continued support of the Nigeria Police Force and commended the Police Service Commission for ensuring a transparent and merit-based promotion process.
