The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has dismissed viral reports claiming that songs by Afrobeats star Burna Boy were banned following an alleged altercation involving DJ Tunez.
The rumours, which spread online earlier this week, suggested that the association imposed a boycott after a reported dispute during a performance at Obi’s House, a popular Lagos entertainment venue.
However, DJAN described the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued early Friday, the association’s National President, Prince Akim Edeh, said no such directive was ever issued.
“There is no ban on Burna Boy or any artiste. The reports are completely false and should be disregarded,” he said.
What Sparked the Rumour
The controversy began after reports of a disagreement involving DJ Tunez during a set, allegedly over song selection. The incident triggered widespread online speculation that DJs had been directed to stop playing Burna Boy’s music.
DJAN has since clarified that no such decision was taken and that the association is not involved in any boycott.
DJAN’s Position
The association also condemned the alleged misuse of its logo to support the viral claim, distancing itself from any suggestion of a music ban.
It stressed its commitment to professionalism and peace within the entertainment industry, adding that it strongly opposes any form of violence or confrontation among industry players.
DJAN also clarified that DJ Tunez is not a registered member of the association.
