Nigerian champions Edo Queens made a flying start to their CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign with a commanding 7-0 victory over Nigerien side AS GNN in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Chioma Moses stole the spotlight with a sensational hat-trick, while Anastasia Doosuur scored twice.
Aminat Folorunso and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi completed the rout as Edo Queens delivered a dominant attacking performance.
The emphatic win puts Edo Queens at the top of Group B in the WAFU B qualifying tournament, ahead of Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa, who defeated ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 in the other group fixture.
Edo Queens will face ASEC Mimosas on Wednesday, August 26, at Stade du 4 Août, while AS GNN will take on Ampem Darkoa in the other Group B encounter.
With seven goals already scored, Edo Queens will hope to maintain their momentum and take another step towards securing a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
