Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a fresh N10 billion lawsuit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged denial of access to his family while in custody.
El-Rufai, through his lawyer, Ubong Akpan, filed the suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja on August 13.
He named the ICPC Chairman and the Attorney-General of the Federation as the second and third defendants.
The former governor alleged that his wife, Aichatou Asabe, and son, Abba El-Rufai, were prevented from seeing him and providing him with food, medication and other necessities.
He argued that the alleged denial of family access violated his constitutional rights to dignity, private and family life.
El-Rufai is asking the court to declare the continued denial of access to his family unconstitutional, illegal and unlawful.
He is seeking nine reliefs from the court, including N10 billion in damages.
