Faleke Picks APC Forms Push for Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

A member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, has formally obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, setting the tone for an early start to the 2027 presidential race.

The forms were presented in Abuja by the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, in what party insiders describe as a significant step in kickstarting the President’s re-election bid.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency and leads the Tinubu Support Groups, said the move underscores growing political backing for Tinubu’s second-term ambition. The nomination and expression of interest forms are priced at ₦100 million, reflecting the high stakes within the ruling party.

The development comes as Nigeria’s electoral cycle for 2027 begins to gather momentum. The Independent National Electoral Commission has already outlined a timetable, with presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, followed by governorship and state assembly polls on February 6, 2027.

Party primaries are expected to take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026, while campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will officially commence on August 19, 2026.

Analysts say the early purchase of nomination forms signals strategic positioning within the APC and could influence internal alignments and alliances ahead of the primaries, as contenders and stakeholders begin to test the political waters.

With the race still in its early stages, the move highlights the intensifying build-up to what is expected to be another fiercely contested general election.
