President of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF), Lekan Fatodu, has charged Nigeria’s swimming representatives to be worthy ambassadors of the nation and the federation at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Nigerian quartet of Abduljabar Adama, Clinton Opute, Collins Ebinga and Dorcas Oka are currently in the final phase of preparations at a training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, ahead of the Games, scheduled for July 23 to August 2.
Fatodu said the athletes have earned the privilege of representing Nigeria through hard work and dedication, urging them to compete with courage, discipline and determination while flying the country’s flag high on the international stage.

The NAqF President expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, noting that the training camp in Aberdeen has provided the ideal environment to sharpen their skills ahead of the multi-sport event.

Fatodu reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to supporting the growth of aquatics in Nigeria, describing the Commonwealth Games as another opportunity for the country’s swimmers to demonstrate their progress and compete with some of the world’s best.

The Nigerian swimmers are expected to conclude their training programme in Aberdeen before departing for Glasgow, where they will join thousands of athletes from across the Commonwealth as Team Nigeria targets podium finishes in the swimming events.
