Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), Adam Mouktar Mohammed, is in Madrid, Spain, attending the World Football Summit 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen international partnerships and unlock new opportunities for football development in Nigeria.
The summit brings together key stakeholders from across the global football industry, including football administrators, clubs, leagues, federations, investors, technology firms, commercial partners and other decision-makers.
Mohammed said his participation would provide an opportunity to gain valuable insights into global best practices in football governance, grassroots and youth development, infrastructure, technology, commercialisation and investment.
«“For Nigerian football to fulfil its enormous potential, we must continue to engage with the global football ecosystem, learn from successful models and, importantly, build partnerships that can be adapted to our own environment,” he said.»
The FCT FA chairman is particularly focused on exploring partnerships that can support youth talent identification and development, coach education, football infrastructure, digital innovation, investment and sustainable pathways for young Nigerian players.
He stressed that football should increasingly be regarded beyond the pitch, describing it as a major economic and social-development platform capable of creating jobs, attracting investment, empowering young people and enhancing Nigeria’s international profile.
«“The objective is to return from Madrid with relationships, ideas and practical opportunities that can translate into measurable development for our football ecosystem,” Mohammed added.»
His presence at the summit also offers an opportunity to showcase Abuja and Nigeria’s vast football talent and market potential to international stakeholders, while strengthening the connection between Nigerian football and the wider global football industry.
The engagement is expected to further complement ongoing efforts to position the FCT as a major hub for football development, talent production and international sporting partnerships.
