FCT Police Arrest 9, Hand Over Drugs to NDLEA

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested nine suspects and recovered large quantities of illicit drugs during coordinated raids in Abuja.

According to a statement by the command, the operations targeted criminal hideouts across Lugbe, Mabushi, and Durumi, led by Divisional Police Officers alongside the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

Police seized large quantities of Cannabis Sativa, codeine syrups, wraps of methamphetamine popularly known as “Ice,” and unbranded illicit pills, the statement by SP Josephine Adeh, Command Spokesperson says.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, the staement says has now handed over the suspects and seized items to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command.

CP Sanusi stated that while the police hold powers to prosecute drug offenses, partnering with the NDLEA aligns with its primary statutory mandate and optimizes police resources for broader security challenges.

Receiving the exhibits, NDLEA FCT Command Spokesperson, ACN Samuel Orji, praised the inter-agency collaboration and assured that all nine suspects will face thorough investigation and prosecution.

The police Command reaffirmed commitment to inter-agency synergy and urged residents to report suspicious activities.
