The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested nine suspected members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate and recovered three stolen vehicles alongside several stolen items.
The arrests followed a report of an armed robbery incident on 18 January 2026, in Jikwoyi, where assailants invaded a residence and carted away personal belongings, cash and a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 549 CW.
Operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad immediately launched an intelligence-led investigation.
On 26 January 2026, police operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout in Nasarawa State, where they were reportedly planning another robbery operation in the Asokoro area of Abuja.
The nine suspects arrested are:
• Mohammed Yanusa (21)
• Abubakar Mohammed (20)
• Isah Salihu (18)
• Nura Zakare (20)
• John Paul Itodo (62)
• Augustin Daudu (30)
• Musbau Ali (32)
• Innocent Omale (44)
• Usman Mohammed (22)
Recovered exhibits include:
– Three vehicles (grey Toyota Camry MUS 234CW;
ash-coloured Toyota Corolla KUJ 549 CW;
ash-coloured Toyota Camry MKD 372 AU)
– Four television sets
– Multiple laptops (HP, Lenovo, Zinox, Dell)
– Two generators
– Two solar batteries
– One pumping machine
– One DJ mixer, four club lights and one speaker
– 70 bottles of assorted wine
– One GOtv decoder
– One LG home theatre system
– One gas cylinder and other household items
A statement on Friday by the command PRO, Josephine Adeh says Investigations so far indicate that the syndicate sold the stolen vehicles to receivers in Kaduna and Kano States for between ₦550,000 and ₦650,000.
The FCT Police Command says efforts are ongoing to arrest the identified receivers of stolen vehicles.
The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
