The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports on social media alleging an influx of suspected Fulani herdsmen into Anguwan Dobi community in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja, describing the claims as misleading.
In a statement issued on Friday night, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, says the Command swiftly deployed operatives to the affected community and surrounding areas following the emergence of the videos and online reports.
According to her, preliminary investigations carried out by the police did not reveal any unusual gathering, suspicious movement, or persons matching the descriptions contained in the viral claims.
She, however, noted that investigations are still ongoing to fully ascertain the facts surrounding the situation and address public concerns.
The Command urged residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear or panic, assuring them that security agencies remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding lives and property across the FCT.
Adeh also called on members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating tension, while encouraging residents to promptly report any suspicious activity to the appropriate security authorities.
