Four miners have reportedly been killed after a mining pit collapsed on them in Baban Rafi, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday while the victims were reportedly mining tin inside the pit.
Bokkos Youth Leader, Daniel Tula, confirmed the incident, saying the victims comprised two men and two women.
Tula said the four miners were trapped after the pit collapsed and were later buried by their relatives.
He described the incident as the first of its kind in the area and raised concerns about the safety of miners in the community.
However, the Plateau State Police Command said it had not received any official report on the incident.
Police spokesman, SP Alfred Alabo, said the command would provide further details once it receives a formal briefing.
