The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has engaged international development partners and diplomatic missions in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The strategic dialogue, held at the Force Headquarters in collaboration with the Police Reform Secretariat, brought together representatives of the United Nations Development Programme, UN Women, the British High Commission, and officials from Germany, Spain, and Slovakia.
Speaking during the meeting, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to building a modern, professional, intelligence-led, and accountable institution anchored on the rule of law, human rights, and community partnership.
According to him, the ongoing reform agenda is aimed at transforming the Force into a technology-driven and citizen-focused institution capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
Head of the Police Reform Secretariat, Olu Ogunsakin, outlined key reform priorities, including legal and policy reforms, election security management, leadership development, stakeholder engagement, oversight systems, and community trust-building initiatives.
He stressed the importance of international collaboration in supporting sustainable police reforms and institutional capacity development.
The police leadership said the reform drive remains focused on improving transparency, professionalism, discipline, and operational effectiveness in line with global best practices while addressing Nigeria’s security realities.
