Senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have commenced an Executive Capacity Building Workshop aimed at sharpening their leadership, intelligence-driven operations, and proactive crime prevention skills.
The programme, launched on Monday in Abuja, by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, in collaboration with the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP), is aimed at repositioning the Police as a more strategic institution capable of tackling Nigeria’s complex security challenges.
A Transformative Training
Chairman of the SPSP Board of Trustees, Professor Suleiman Elias-Bogoro, described the training as a “transformative journey” designed to equip senior officers with ethical and visionary leadership to advance peace, justice, and national cohesion.
The workshop reflects the IGP’s policing vision, which prioritises:
- Proactive crime prevention
- Use of technology in intelligence gathering
- Inter-agency collaboration
- Ethical, accountable leadership
Free Training, National Impact
Since signing an MoU with the Police last year, SPSP has trained various cadres, including Chief Superintendents of Police, with over 100 officers joining as members.
Professor Bogoro noted that the ongoing training for top police leadership is being delivered pro bono, calling it a strategic investment in the future of policing in Nigeria.
“This initiative demonstrates that effective policing is not just about enforcement, but about foresight, collaboration, and the courage to lead with purpose,” he said.
The programme features expert presentations, interactive sessions, and case studies, all aimed at preparing senior officers to lead with integrity, innovation, and impact.
