Former Super Eagles defender Chikelue Iloenyosi has been re-elected Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA), polling all 23 votes cast at the association’s elective congress in Awka.
Iloenyosi, who contested unopposed, secured a unanimous mandate for another four-year term to continue leading football administration in the state.
Returning Officer Darlington Okeke declared him elected after delegates unanimously endorsed his candidature.
Johnson Ifejika was also returned as Vice Chairman, while veteran sports journalist Ralph-Chidozie George retained his position on the board.
Other elected board members are Obi Moneke and Ralph-Chidozie George for Anambra South Senatorial District, Emmanuel Okeke and Nnamdi Igbokwe for Anambra North, and Ezoakor Donatus Mbaezue Michael alongside Ijeoma Nwosu for Anambra Central.
In his acceptance speech, Iloenyosi thanked delegates for the confidence reposed in him, describing the unanimous endorsement as a renewed mandate to advance football development in Anambra State.
He pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Anambra State Government, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), football stakeholders and the media to consolidate the state’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading football centres.
Representing the NFF, Ibrahim Aminu congratulated the newly elected board and described the election as free, fair and transparent.
He also said Iloenyosi’s unopposed re-election reflected the confidence football stakeholders have in his leadership.
Iloenyosi was first elected chairman in October 2020 and formally assumed office in July 2022 after the Nigeria Football Federation upheld his petition and directed that he take over the administration of the state football association.
