The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s confidence ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
it is insisting that the party is headed for defeat because the outcome will be determined by voters rather than political heavyweights.
The council was reacting to remarks credited to APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who reportedly said the party’s deployment of governors, National Assembly members and other influential leaders would secure victory over Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement on Tuesday signed by Representative Bamidele Salam, the council describes Yilwatda’s “trailer versus Keke Napep” analogy as a display of political arrogance and a misunderstanding of the political mood in Osun State.
According to the campaign, elections are won through the support of the electorate, not by the number of political office holders mobilised for campaigns.
The council maintains that Osun voters are capable of making independent decisions based on the performance of the Adeleke administration, rather than external political influence.
It argues that Governor Adeleke’s record in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, water supply, agriculture and youth empowerment has earned him broad public support across the state.
The campaign also alleges that the APC governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, lacks the grassroots appeal to independently mobilise voters, forcing the party to rely on political figures from outside Osun.
The Imole Campaign Council challenges the APC to shift attention from what it described as political grandstanding and focus instead on presenting clear policy alternatives and governance plans to the electorate ahead of the poll.
