Iran Intensifies Retaliation as Middle East Tensions Escalate

By Oluwakemi Kindness

Iran has intensified its retaliatory attacks across the Middle East after a 10th consecutive night of US bombing, widening the conflict and raising fears of further regional instability.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted US military assets in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. The claims have not been independently verified.

The IRGC also reported that “massive fires” broke out on two oil tankers it said had taken an “unsafe route” through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping lane.

Meanwhile, the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, threatening to further disrupt global energy supplies and regional shipping.

US President Donald Trump warned that Iran would pay “many times over” for the deaths of American soldiers after at least three US service members were killed during the past week.

In Lebanon, the country’s army said its troops have begun deploying to the southern town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh following the withdrawal of Israeli forces under a US-mediated agreement.
