The second round of the 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) concluded in thrilling fashion in Kaduna, with Kebbi Fishers BSC and Kada BSC emerging as the standout performers after a series of impressive victories that strengthened their Super Four ambitions.
Kebbi Fishers enjoyed a remarkable campaign, recording three consecutive victories across the final stages of Round Two to underline their status as serious title contenders.
In Match Four, Kebbi produced a devastating attacking display to defeat Niger BSC 10-5 in one of the highest-scoring encounters of the competition. Taiwo Adams led the rout with four goals, while Hassan Abdullahi added a hat-trick. Badmus Fuad and Umar Sadiqee also found the net, while an own goal by Jamilu Haruna completed the tally.
Despite the defeat, Niger BSC striker Hassan Abubakar delivered a sensational individual performance, scoring all five goals for his side and earning the Man of the Match award.
Defending champions Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors then survived a major scare in Match Five, edging Jigawa Golden Stars BSC 4-2 on penalties after an entertaining 3-3 draw following extra time.
Hamza Bagudu scored twice for Jigawa, with Rabiu Ali adding the third goal, while Chizoba Iwumune produced a magnificent hat-trick for Anambra to force the contest into a shootout. Iwumune’s heroics earned him the Man of the Match award as the champions held their nerve from the spot.
Kebbi rounded off Matchday Two with another dominant display, defeating Ibom BSC 7-4. Hamza Manga starred with four goals and claimed the Man of the Match award, while Umar Sadiqee scored twice and Badmus Fuad added another. Ibom’s goals came through Uwana Anietie, Uyime Friday, Abdullahi Aliyu and Aliyu Aliyu.
The final day of Round Two delivered more excitement as Hassan Abubakar once again stole the headlines in Match Seven, scoring five goals to inspire Niger BSC to a convincing 6-3 victory over defending champions Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors. Garba Abubakar added Niger’s sixth goal, while Chizoba Iwumune scored twice and Gabriel Chinweze once for Anambra. Abubakar’s outstanding display earned him a second Man of the Match award in as many games.
Kebbi Fishers maintained their winning momentum in Match Eight with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Jigawa Golden Stars BSC. An own goal from Hamza Bagudu gave Kebbi an early lead before Ekene Obi and Umar Sadiqee added the decisive goals. Bagudu responded with both goals for Jigawa and was named Man of the Match despite finishing on the losing side.
Kada BSC completed the Round Two programme with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Ibom BSC in Match Nine. Tanko Emmanuel scored twice, while Victor Tale and Jude David Ebuka also got on the scoresheet. Uwana Anietie netted Ibom’s lone goal, while Emmanuel’s brace earned him the Man of the Match award.
The conclusion of Round Two was attended by several distinguished guests, including Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development Permanent Secretary Mrs. Dorcas Benjamin, Special Adviser on Sports to the Kaduna State Governor Alhaji Saidu Debis, and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) President Isaiah Benjamin.
With Round Two now completed, attention shifts to the race for Super Four qualification as teams continue their quest for the 2026 NBSL title.
