President Bola Tinubu and the House of Representatives have been urged to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to vacate a disputed property in Abuja’s Guzape District and comply with a subsisting Federal High Court order.
The appeal was made on Thursday by Emaya Alibeku, counsel to Dr. Rebecca Godwin Omokomo-Isaac, during a press briefing in Abuja.
He alleged that the anti-graft agency have continued to occupy the property at Plot 4022 despite a court order directing all parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum in the Suit.
Alibeku said the ownership dispute remains before the court and argued that no government agency should take actions capable of prejudicing ongoing judicial proceedings.
He maintained that his client lawfully acquired the property in 2022, developed it and took possession in 2024 before a rival claimant emerged.
He further alleged that EFCC operatives took over the property on June 29 despite the pending court proceedings and later refused to vacate after another court order directing parties to preserve the status quo.
He appealed to the Presidency and the National Assembly to intervene and ensure compliance with the court order, adding that previous letters seeking government intervention had yet to receive a response
