Macron Sends 85 French Rescuers to Quake-Hit Venezuela

By Sofiat Adenekan-Abdul

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the deployment of 85 French rescue personnel to Venezuela following twin earthquakes that have left widespread destruction and mounting casualties across the South American nation.

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, Macron says France was acting swiftly to support Venezuela’s emergency response, describing the mission as a demonstration of solidarity with communities devastated by the disaster.

The rescue contingent comprises highly trained search-and-rescue specialists and debris-clearing experts who will work alongside local authorities to locate survivors and assist ongoing recovery operations.

Macron also revealed that France is coordinating with its European partners to deliver humanitarian aid tailored to the needs identified by Venezuelan officials as the crisis unfolds.

Emergency teams continue to comb affected areas amid fears that the full scale of the damage to homes, infrastructure and public services has yet to emerge.

France reaffirmed its commitment to supporting relief efforts and helping Venezuela rebuild in the wake of the deadly earthquakes.
