Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has vowed to strengthen security and protect residents of Mangu Local Government Area following a deadly attack on Bin Mper community in Kombun District.
Mutfwang made the commitment on Thursday during a visit to the community, where several people were killed and others injured in the attack.
He described the incident as “barbaric, senseless and unacceptable,” stressing that the government would ensure residents remain safely on their ancestral lands.
The governor said security agencies had arrested some suspects and pledged that the investigation would be pursued to its logical conclusion.
He also called for more proactive, intelligence-driven and coordinated security operations to prevent further attacks.
Mutfwang condoled with families of the victims and prayed for those injured, while urging residents to remain calm, vigilant and committed to peace.
He said the fight against insecurity requires stronger collaboration among communities, traditional rulers, government and security agencies.
Before visiting the affected community, the governor received a security briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army.
He later paid a condolence visit to the Mishkagham Mwaghavul, Da. John Putmang Hirse, and the Mwaghavul community.
Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s determination to confront banditry and other forms of criminality and ensure greater protection for communities across Plateau State.
