The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) says preparations for the commencement of the next Christian pilgrimage exercise will begin in earnest, with its Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, reaffirming his commitment to making pilgrimage a rewarding and spiritually rejuvenating experience for Nigerian Christians.
Adegbite disclosed this in Abuja while marking his 58th birthday with a thanksgiving service attended by members of his family, NCPC management and staff, friends and other dignitaries.
A statement signed by the Commission’s spokesman Celestine Toruka and made available to NILDS Democracy Radio quotes the NCPC boss as saying that his passion for Christian pilgrimage remained unwavering, describing his responsibility at the commission as a privilege to continue serving God, contribute to national development and promote unity within the Christian community.
According to him, the pilgrimage exercises conducted under his leadership over the past two and a half years have been rewarding and spiritually rejuvenating.
He said the commission was poised to commence preparations for the next exercise, stressing the importance of pilgrimage in strengthening the faith of Christians and promoting religious harmony, peace and stability in Nigeria.
Adegbite also urged NCPC staff to remain committed to their responsibilities, noting that every position of authority should be regarded as an opportunity to make a positive impact on society.
Reflecting on his 58 years of life, the NCPC Executive Secretary said his journey had been marked by a long-standing commitment to Christian service.
“Out of the 58 years I have lived on earth, I have spent 38 years serving God,” he said, attributing his achievements and progress to the grace and faithfulness of God.
Adegbite expressed appreciation to his wife, Princess Adewunmi Fadeke, his children and members of staff for their support and prayers. He also acknowledged the goodwill of President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, particularly appreciating the First Lady for personally conveying her birthday wishes.
