Nigeria’s women’s team have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 African U18 Beach Volleyball Development Cup in Senegal after maintaining their unbeaten run in the competition.
The Nigerian youngsters defeated Mozambique 2-0, winning 21-15, 21-17 on Wednesday, August 12, to seal their spot in the knockout stage with another impressive performance.
Coach John Iwerima praised the team’s tactical discipline, saying the players have shown a high level of tactical maturity and are capable of improving further as the tournament progresses.
Iwerima said Nigeria’s primary objective is to expose the young players to international competition and prepare them for bigger challenges ahead.
He added that winning the tournament would be a significant achievement for the players and the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, while also boosting their profiles on the international stage.
With their unbeaten record intact, the Nigerian women will now turn their attention to the quarterfinals as they continue their push for honours in Senegal.
