The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has highlighted growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy following the formalisation of a retail partnership between Hypercity and Carrefour.
Speaking on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the franchise signing ceremony in Abuja, Gbajabiamila commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for facilitating the agreement.
He noted that the deal signals renewed investor interest and reflects efforts by the FCT administration to create an enabling environment for business growth.
The partnership, which will commence in Abuja, is projected to expand to other major cities, including Lagos, indicating a broader retail investment footprint across the country.
Managing Director of Hypercity, Sunny Chuwla, said the collaboration will see the establishment of new retail outlets in Abuja and other locations, alongside the rebranding of existing stores in Port Harcourt to the Carrefour franchise.
He added that the initiative is expected to generate employment and open up supply chain opportunities for local producers.
Stakeholders at the event also underscored Abuja’s increasing role as a hub for commercial activity, driven by policies aimed at attracting and sustaining private sector investment.
