NILDS, NTA Partner on Legislative Reporting

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with NTA Parliament to deepen democratic governance in Nigeria.

The Director-General of NILDS, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, gave the assurance on Tuesday when the newly appointed General Manager of NTA Parliament, Lami Ali, led a five-member management delegation to his office.

According to a statement on Wednesday by Mohammad Abdulkadri, Media Adviser to the NILDS DG, Ali’s appointment is well deserved and strategic, citing her extensive experience covering the National Assembly’s Green and Red Chambers

He said her experience would strengthen the station’s ability to connect legislative activities with viewers across the country.

The NILDS DG also reaffirmed the institute’s support for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), describing it as a pioneer television station in Africa and a pace-setter in Nigeria’s broadcasting industry.

He stressed the need for continuous training of NTA Parliament staff to ensure accurate and professional reporting of legislative activities.

Sulaiman said effective coverage of the National Assembly was essential to keeping Nigerians informed about the activities and decisions of their elected representatives.

Earlier, Ali thanked the NILDS DG for his continued support for NTA Parliament and pledged to sustain and strengthen the partnership under her leadership.

Ali recently took over as General Manager of NTA Parliament from Abdullahi Birni Kudu, who has been deployed as Zonal Director of the NTA Maiduguri Network Centre.
