Managing Director, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Oluwaseun Faleye, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to the effective implementation of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS) for federal civil servants.
This is as he applauds the Federal Government’s newly unveiled welfare enhancement package for workers in the Federal Civil Service.
Faleye gave the assurance in Abuja during a press briefing by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, where details of the new welfare measures for workers at the federal civil service were announced.
He praised Walson-Jack’s leadership and described the welfare initiatives as timely interventions aimed at improving the standard of living of public servants.
According to him, the NSITF is fully prepared to complement the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation through efficient implementation of the ECS, particularly for treasury-funded federal agencies.
“I appreciate your leadership in bringing forward these welfare packages and schemes for the benefit of federal civil servants,” Faleye said. “On our part as NSITF, I reiterate our commitment to the
Employees’ Compensation Scheme, especially for civil servants in treasury-funded agencies.”
Faleye also recalled the recent establishment of an ECS desk office within the Office of the Head of Service, describing it as part of efforts to deepen awareness and access to compensation benefits for workers. He explained that the office would serve as a one-stop centre for advocacy, enlightenment, and guidance on processes under the scheme.
“That office is structured to provide guidance and support for all federal civil servants who may require assistance on how to comply with and benefit from the scheme,” he said.
The NSITF chief added that, under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Office of the Head of Service, the Fund had undertaken to deliver prompt and professional services, while supporting sensitisation efforts across ministries, departments, and agencies.
He expressed hope for a stronger partnership between the Federal Civil Service and NSITF.
Earlier, Walson-Jack described the newly introduced welfare package as a landmark achievement under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
