NVBF Kicks Off 2026 Division One & Two Volleyball League in Abuja

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has officially announced the commencement of the first phase of its 2026 National Division One and Two League for both male and female teams, scheduled to take place from May 23 to June 7, 2026, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Moshood Abiola National Stadium Package B, Abuja.

Approved by the federation’s League Management Committee, the upcoming championship is set to bring together volleyball clubs, sports institutions, military, and paramilitary teams from across the country in what is expected to be a highly competitive and talent-driven tournament.

According to the official programme schedule, teams are expected to arrive on May 23, while the technical meeting will hold on May 24. The competition proper runs from May 24 to June 6, with departure scheduled for June 7, 2026.

The NVBF described the league as a strategic platform aimed at strengthening the structure of volleyball in Nigeria, improving competitive standards across divisions, and discovering emerging talents for national and international development.

The federation further noted that the championship will enhance institutional participation, promote national unity through sports, and prepare athletes for greater continental exposure.

Under the leadership of NVBF President, Engr. Musa Nimrod, the federation reiterated its commitment to continuous reforms and development programmes targeted at grassroots growth, elite performance, and improved administration of the sport.

With Abuja set to host teams from across the country, expectations are high for a thrilling showcase of skill, discipline, and athletic excellence, as Nigeria’s volleyball scene continues its steady rise.

The federation also commended stakeholders, government agencies, and participating institutions for their ongoing support in advancing the sport nationwide.
