The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has invited 44 players to the national training camp ahead of the 2026 African Junior Volleyball Championships in Egypt, with preparations set to begin on Friday, July 10, at the High Performance Centre.
The squad comprises 22 players each for the U-19 girls and U-18 boys teams, selected from clubs competing in the Nigeria Premier Volleyball League, National Division One League and National Division Two League.
The Federation said the players earned their invitations based on impressive performances during the first phase of the 2026 National Volleyball League.
NVBF expressed confidence in the quality of the selected athletes, noting that both teams are in excellent competitive shape and capable of securing qualification for the FIVB World Championships.
The U-18 boys head into the continental tournament with an enviable record, having won the African title three consecutive times and represented the continent twice at the FIVB U-19 Boys World Championship.
The Federation believes the current squad possesses the talent, determination and experience to continue that winning tradition.
The U-19 girls are also expected to challenge strongly for honours as Nigeria targets an impressive outing in Egypt.
The Federation commended the commitment of the players, coaches, clubs and stakeholders to the growth of volleyball in the country and called on Nigerians to rally behind both teams as they pursue continental success.
National camping officially begins on July 10, with both teams expected to undergo intensive preparations before departing for the African Junior Volleyball Championships in Egypt.
