The Accountant General of the Federation, Shemeldeen Ogunjimi, has urged the United Kingdom District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN-UK) to partner with Nigeria in repositioning the National Treasury Academy, Orozo, into a world-class institution for public financial management and accounting.

Ogunjimi made the call in Abuja while receiving a delegation from ICAN-UK, led by its Chairman, Akintayo Ojo, during a courtesy visit.

The AGF in a statement on Wednesday, stressed the importance of aligning the Academy with international best practices, noting that such collaboration will:

* Strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in public finance management.
* Position the Academy as a center of excellence in Africa.
* Enhance knowledge transfer and professional innovation.

“Our goal is to align the National Treasury Academy with global standards so it can serve as a model for public financial management across Africa,” Ogunjimi said.

He also announced that Treasury staff will participate in the UK ICAN District’s 35th Annual Conference, scheduled for March 2026.

In his remarks, Ojo praised Ogunjimi for his “visionary leadership” and continuous support, which he said has greatly advanced the District’s programs.

He revealed preparations for the upcoming 35th Annual Conference and formally invited the Office of the Accountant General to actively participate in the event.
