The Osun State Government has dismissed an advertorial alleging poor road construction under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, describing the publication as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Bashiru Bello, said the failed road featured in the publication was not located in Modakeke as claimed, but at Mukoro in Ile-Ife, and was constructed during the administration of former governor, Gboyega Oyetola.
Bello said the government had released the Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of the road to allow residents verify its exact location through Google Maps.
According to him, roads currently being executed by the Adeleke administration have not reached the stage of lane markings shown in the published photograph, insisting that the image could not have originated from any of the ongoing projects.
The government maintained that the Adeleke administration has concentrated on rehabilitating and correcting defects on inherited infrastructure projects, while accusing the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to shift responsibility for failed projects to the current government.
Bello urged members of the public to independently verify the facts, insisting that the road in question was delivered under the previous administration.
